Glass shards.

These used to comprise a drinking glass, which met its demise when I knocked it off the edge of my desk and it smashed on the lid of a file box on the floor next to me. Fortunately it was empty at the time. Also fortunately, I thought to keep the larger pieces until I had a chance to make a daily photo out of them.

Water glass on nightstand.

Another mediocre nightstand water glass photo for the collection. At this rate, I could make a whole gallery for them. As usual, it lacks the mysterious fluid sparkle of the real thing.

Blue clock in the dark.

The way light refracts through water glasses - especially the cool blue glow from my alarm clock - mesmerizes me. Someday maybe I'll manage to do it justice in a photo.

A flower on a windshield in the rain.

I'm not thrilled with this shot because I don't think it has much punch to it. On the other hand, I really like the blur effect created by the wet glass in the background.

Water glasses.

I went out with some friends after work yesterday for a burger and a glass of wine. I brought the camera along. I kept playing with the assorted objects on the table looking for interesting shots, but the first one I took ended up being the best.

Water glass.

I often leave a glass of water next to my bed, and when I wake up I'm always intrigued by the light from the window refracting through the glass in the mostly darkened room. I think I could do better with this subject if I spend a little more time with it, but this captures some of what I was going for. It's a color shot of a fairly black and white subject. Might benefit from some adjustments in Photoshop, but I haven't had time to play with it. I also didn't realize until after this shot that I was shooting at ISO 1600 -- I had turned it way up while shooting in the dark parking lot last night. The graininess might have worked out okay for that photo, but I don't think it's beneficial here.

Compact flourescent light bulb.

This is so bright when it's on that I never looked at it and thought of taking a picture before, but for some reason it caught my eye last night (it was after midnight, so I'm counting it as today's photo). It's an architect's lamp, with the CF bulb in the middle (in place of a incandescent) and a round flourescent tube around the outside. Both of them are on - the outer one just looks dark in comparison to the bright center bulb. The CF bulb is actually much warmer to better approximate incandescent light, but I set my white balance so it appears white, making the white flourescent tube around the edge look blue.

Star ornament.

I sometimes forget that an object doesn't have to be remarkable in and of itself to be special to us.
