Flyrail.
While Matt Pilsner was getting the lag screws removed from his leg today, I was filling in for him at work. This is HIS flyrail - I usually work next door in the other theater (here's a shot of
MY flyrail), so this is a slight change of scenery for me. No pun intended. Basically, pulling a rope flies a pipe up or down over the stage, along with whatever lights, scenery, or other equipment happen to be hanging on the pipe. The stacks of steel counterweight behind the ropes ride up and down opposite the pipe to balance the load.
Last I heard, Matt was out of his surgery and headed to the bar for a chicken quesadilla. I'm looking forward to a daily photo of his newly liberated lag screws!
