With the start of 2009 I have returned to my daily photo endeavor. The goal is one good photo every day to keep me active with my camera and my Smugmug site. I will miss days and weeks, but hopefully I'll come back fresh after each hiatus, however long it lasts. I started shooting daily photos early last year; my gallery for 2008 is
here.
As always, comments--especially constructive criticism--are warmly welcome.

Twisted wire rock cage.
I've been studying the drainage basins around my apartment complex lately, for no particular reason other than the same mild fascination with water that led me to build dams in front of the drain from the pond behind my house when I was a kid, just to watch the water rise for a day or so and then go rushing out when I breached the dam. Each collection basin has a spillway where the water would flow over the side if it ever overwhelmed the overflow drain. This is a closeup of one of the wire mesh cages that holds the crushed stone lining the spillways.
