Guess what it is...

I haven't done a 'guess what it is' before, but I thought this one might be fun. My only hint is that I didn't take it at work and it has nothing to do with theatre--I came across it while I was out for a walk today.

$January 18, 2009 Binocular self-portrait. I thought of these compact binoculars when I was looking for a daily photo today. First I thought I would try a shot head-on, with the small refracted images coming through the binoculars, but as soon as I took them out I was intrigued by the reflections in the lenses. I set up my camera on a tripod and put it right next to my face, placed the binoculars on some black velour about a foot away, and swung my desk lamp around to light my face but not the binoculars. The result is almost SOOC. I just tweaked the whole image with a slight curves adjustment and some sharpening - no fiddling with with the reflections. The orange color is from the lens coatings. I think it's a pretty neat image, though it's kind of a creepy look for me.$
